Open Workshop Day

Open Workshop Day

It’s that time of year again - I open my workshop to visitors in a more organised way than it is usually. Which is to say it’s an event which sometimes resembles a small party. For me it’s a time to remember that making pots can look quite magical to the uninitiated. People enjoy seeing the demonstrations and are always surprised when one shows a freshly thrown object next to the object it will become after two firings - the finished object is quite dramatically smaller!

There are refreshments, I try and make some quite typically English tea-time things for my French neighbours and visitors to try. And sharing a drink and a bite to eat makes it a more sociable event too.
I enjoy explaining the processes involved in pottery making and answering the questions that arise.

This year too there will be lots of choice for those planning on doing some Christmas shopping, some new shapes and colours and the opportunity to find a bargain amongst the experimental pieces or slight seconds that are all part and parcel of getting a new design just how I want it.

The photo above is the fruition of two development threads coming together. The bright slip colours I’ve been using for my Colourpop collection joining the dark but striking Spiral collection. The end result are the vivid slip colours on the inside of my Spiral bowls - they put me in mind of  Monty Don’s idea of a jewel garden. So these are my jewels, also very much inspired by my favourite flowers.

The workshop will be open all day from 10am to 6pm on Sunday 29th November 2026, do come!
1174 Chemin de Sauviac, 32300 St Michel. If you can’t make it but would still like to visit, just drop me an email or phone, we’ll find another moment when it’s possible.
