How important are trade fairs?

This is a question that has different answers depending on many variables. For my business, I’ve found them the best resource for finding and meeting up with new and established trade customers. But my circumstances are a bit special as I live in one of the least populated departments in France - so not a lot of local custom is available - and in reality the number of independent shops and galleries are greater in the UK than they are here in France.
I’ve regularly exhibited my tableware collections at trade shows for many years, mainly in the UK, but also in Paris and earlier this year in Shanghai.
However, it always represents a significant financial investment as well as a big time and energy commitment. So this year I’m exhibiting differently - I have a stand at the GiftFair UK. This is an event that is entirely online and is therefore able to be open to visitors for a much longer period than a traditional show. Whilst one doesn’t have the pleasure of meeting visitors face to face, it nonetheless provides various options for discussions with visitors and of course it’s easier for the visitors too, they can come effortlessly from anywhere in the world.
I’m really looking forward to making new contacts at the GiftFair UK and of course getting feedback and reaction to new lines. The show opens it’s virtual doors tomorrow and runs until October 23rd. If you’re a registered trade buyer do come and see Sue Ure Ceramics in the Home section - Hall 6, stand 10. I look forward to meeting you there!
But if you’re a normal customer, rather than a professional buyer, there are some new Studio pieces in the pipeline that will be online and available very soon.
